Privacy Policy

This policy explains what TradeMV (trademv.com) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect. Account details you provide: your email address, display name (and store name for business accounts), and optionally a phone number. Your password is stored only as a bcrypt hash, never in plain text. Content you post: listings (titles, descriptions, prices, atoll and island, category attributes, and photos), messages to other users, favourites, and any reports you submit. Technical data: your IP address and browser user-agent are recorded with your login sessions for security, and we count listing views. We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

2. How we use it. To run the marketplace; to authenticate you and maintain your session; to show and promote your listings; to deliver in-app messages and emails (email verification, password resets, and, where enabled, new-message and price-drop notifications for listings you have saved); and to keep the platform safe by reviewing reports, with automated triage that our team checks before any action is taken.

3. Photos. Images you upload are re-processed on our servers and stripped of embedded metadata, including any EXIF or GPS location, before they are published.

4. What others can see. Your active listings, your public display or store name, your member-since month, and any contact details you choose to reveal — a seller phone number is shown only to signed-in users. Your email address and password are never shown to other users.

5. Service providers. We use trusted third parties only to operate the service, such as an email provider to send the messages above and hosting for the site and database. We fetch a daily USD to MVR exchange rate from a public API, and no personal data is sent in that request. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Retention. We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual listings yourself or ask us to delete your account, after which we remove your personal data, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

7. Your choices and rights. You can edit your profile, change your password, delete your listings, and request full account deletion at any time. For any privacy request, contact us at the address below.

8. Security. We protect accounts with hashed passwords, server-side revocable sessions, and an httpOnly session cookie, among other measures. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes. We may update this policy; the date above will change when we do.
